The first time I had a green smoothie was in Mexico and I fell in love. Three years later, I decided to look into it and although I was late to the party, I was so excited to be able to make these delicious breakfast drinks! I ate eggs and veggies in many forms religiously for breakfast at work for the last six years and have since replaced my mornings with a refreshing dose of the ultimate green smoothie as it's the best way to get your veggies and fruits with vitamins, omega 3, calcium, fiber, protein, iron, etc., etc., etc.
My favorite basic smoothie:
Buy organic please (it's the best for you).
For the vegetable, my first choice is kale as it's one of the healthiest leafy greens you can have (about 1.5 cups packed). Second choice is spinach.
1 frozen banana (must have!)
1 cup blueberries (or your fruit of choice -- Costco has great deals on organic frozen fruits),
1 thumb size frozen ginger (or less depending on your sensitivity to ginger)
1 tbsp chia seeds
2 tbsps hemp hearts
2 c water. You can substitute water with almond milk, but watch your calories as this can make you gain weight so I reverted to water.
Adjust the measurements to your liking. Slice and freeze your very ripened bananas as this is what makes the smoothie fabulous!
I would recommend the nutribullet or a high powered blender of choice. The nutribullet comes with other recipes including fruit bowls, cocktails, matcha frappes, dips and sauces, even their version of ice cream and almond butter.
Enjoy and let me know how you like your smoothie!
OMG! This is my go to breaky! Fills me up and powers my body with love. Thanks Lolo!
